Projects Update: August 2024

Writer's picture: Sarah SchreckSarah Schreck

Hi there, friends!

I'm here to share a few of the fun projects I'm working on this month, as well as preview some fun stuff happening in September. This will be a helpful record for me, and hopefully, a fairly fun experience for you, if you're interested!

August

After a beautiful summer in Montauk, passing by the sign that I designed and got to paint with my partner Jack, the Chamber of Commerce approached me to design their collectible mug for the 2024 Fall Festival! This blog post is the last to-do before I hop right in!

Meanwhile, I've got some character designs sent over to my buddies out West. I can't share too much, since their project is still in the works, but it's always fun to see growth over time with character design projects. One day, I hope to stream a little bit of that process here.

Jack and I have also been working on some WebGL interactive animations as we initiate a creative partnership. It's been a lot of fun; it will look a little bit like this experiment below, but you'll be able to adjust this little guy's performance, hands-on. It may be a small project, but it's a fun one, and is teaching us a lot about technical integration, and working together!

Later this month, my lovely friends at Yoga Dama are hosting a retreat! It was a joy to capture their special weekend last year in photos, and I'll be doing it again this time around.

Speaking of yoga, it's been a pleasure and a blast to teach at Montauk Om this summer. I'll be resuming my regular Friday Funky Flows at Ascent in New Haven once we're back in town!

September

Upcoming in September, my latest play, January, will have its first performance in the Pittsburgh New Works Festival. I'm still trying to get the stars to align so I can see it in person before two weeks of international travel, but I look forward to sharing it regardless!

...

Is that all? For now, yes! I've got my eye on autumn this year. It can take its time to arrive, certainly. However... Maybe it's because I've been playing so much Stardew Valley, but I'm jazzed about getting a CSA box, baking some bread, and lighting some cozy candles. See you in September!
