Project Update: September & October

As we start the fourth quarter of the year, I am bracing with both hands on the guardrails of life, can we slow this thing down!? Anyways, here's what I've been up to, both in and out of work, and what's coming up as the year comes crashing into its finale!

One Act to Rule Them All!

January won Audience Favorite at the Pittsburgh New Works Festival! I'm so grateful that my play was in the hands of a stellar cast and crew of women + Director Dave. This play combined nerdiness, artistic self-expression, and the love between a mother and daughter to help explore what remains static, and what changes, over time. It was such a joy to write and I can't wait for my watch party with the cast at the end of the month to see their unique take!

A Little Work Spotlight - Renaissance Learning Solutions

It's difficult to build a portfolio with ads from my nine-to-five, only because I'm producing dozens of pieces every day, but none are too - "WOW, that ad changed my life!" Even with that being said, I want to take some time to share some client work.

I grew up with Renaissance's Accelerated Reader program, so when we brought them on as a client at the start of 2023, I was already a big fan. From Google Display, to Meta, to Reddit, to YouTube, Renaissance always gives me a fun amount of wiggle room for fun copy (like the dyslexia-related posts below), and license to meme. You can see the full variety below, plus some videos promoting Renaissance Next, a hub for all of Renaissance's programs, to collect data and recommendations for teachers on student next steps.

Montauk Chamber of Commerce Chowder Contest

I have a little bit less to say about this one, but I was so excited when the Chamber of Commerce approached me to design their collectible mug for the 2024 Fall Festival! I'm sure I'll have some pictures of the T-shirt and mug soon, but for now, here's the design in flat form!

What's in the Works?

Currently, I'm designing some characters for an adult comedy for my friends out West (If you're reading this, AK, I owe you some updates, and you know it!), making collateral for Artist Talk's Therapeutic Spaces, and I'm writing a new play for the winter holidays.

Yoga classes are going well, by the way! Sometimes they're the only thing keeping me grounded - and I've loved getting to know my class regulars. I'll be teaching a workshop on sun and moon salutations on the 27th!

That being said, I'm running behind on a lot, mostly because Jack and I spent one week in Switzerland, and another week in Italy! We were there to attend a [spectacular] wedding, but Jack also initiated a study abroad program and lectured in Florence. I won't make you sit and watch our vacation photos, but here are a few highlights.

[Gallery incoming!!! There's a lot of pictures to go through.]

Hope you've picked out your Halloween costume, are sipping on something warm and cozy, and that you get buttloads of your favorite candy on the 31st. I think I'd pick York Peppermint Patties, Heath Bars, and/or straight up chocolate. I am team candy corn, so if that offends you, I offer my condolences.
