A pitch lives or dies on whether the IP feels real in the room, even if this initial concept art is only used to set the tone. Every design decision has to signal genre, audience, and story.
For one project, my job was torso-up character portraits that could sell the tone in a single image. This concept follows a family split between heaven and hell, with a villain who looks suspiciously like Jeff Goldblum. Designers… find a way.
